Eastern Language and Literatures

General Informations

In addition to undergraduate education in Persian, the program focuses on Iranian History, Geography, pre-and post-Islamic Iranian languages ​​and cultures, classical and modern Iranian Literature, as well as focusing on historical events between Anatolian and Iranian Civilizations.

It aims to equip students with sufficient grammar and to become experts in Persian Language and Literature, and to bring Persian works in Turkish-Islamic field to Turkish culture and researchers. In the department, the lectures on Persian Grammar, Persian Speaking, Pre-and Post-Islamic History of Iranian Culture and Literature, Text Commentary, Translation from Turkish to Persian-Persian to Turkish, Modern Iranian Literature and Press Language are given. Graduates can work in universities, museums, libraries, state archives, tourism field, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Directorate of Security and various private institutions and organizations.

Our university, which is located in the east of our country and aims to grow and develop rapidly, aims to open a new horizon in the region in cultural, economic and educational fields, will be one of the important centers of the future due to being close to Iran and Persian speaking regions.

In this program, Arabic is taught together with Persian within the department the Arabic Language and Literature department. As is known, Arabic is a very wide and rich language. With the intense interest of nations who chose Islam, especially because the religious texts (Qur'an and Hadith) are Arabic, many linguists on Arabic have made various studies on the origin of this language and turned it into a certain systematic. Like the Turks, many nations who chose Islam adopted this language and started using it in their daily conversations. Many states have declared Arabic as their official language. Similarly, as in the Ottoman Empire, Arabic Madrasahs were established in many places to understand religious resources. Various specialized fields have been created and various educational institutions have been established for this.

                The aim of this program is to teach classical and modern Arabic education and Arabic Literature courses. Classical Arabic education generally consists of Sarf, Nahiv and Belagat. By giving this education, the aim is to reach the level to read firsthand the historical sources of Middle Eastern Civilization History, especially religious resources. At this point, a door opens to an invaluable treasure of knowledge, especially for historians and sociologists. In modern Arabic teaching, various dialects in Arab countries are taught, including the daily speaking language. In addition to this, Media Arabic education, which we call media language, is given. On this occasion, it is possible to follow current issues in newspapers and television. Arabic Literature, on the other hand, is studied under various titles since its birth.
