Program of Opticianry

General Information

Purpose Program:

It is the training of high school graduates who are trained to provide optical equipment and provide them to the patient by designing glasses or lenses in line with the prescription given by the doctor in order to correct and eliminate visual impairments.

Required Qualifications:

Students' health status should have the competence to do the jobs required by the profession. For this reason, students to be included in the program must obtain a medical report from a full-fledged official hospital. In addition, they should be able to make quick and correct decisions, be careful, calm, have a strong sense of responsibility and have good communication skills.

Training Period and Content:

Education period is 2 years. Applications from all high school types can be made to the program.  Placement is made according to the results of the YKS.  Education period is 2 years. In addition to the basic courses, Anatomical Physiology, Physics-Geometric Optics in the Opticianry Program, in order to provide our students with the professional knowledge and skills required by the era, and to enable them to use creative and successful information in teamwork, to renew themselves, and to use written and oral communication information effectively in the solution of problems. Courses such as 1 and 2, Opticianry 1-2 and 3, Use of Optical Instruments, Visual Optics and Eye Diseases 1 and 2, Graduation Project, Applied Education 1 and 2 are taught.

Business Opportunities After Graduation:

Students who graduate from the program with the title of optician can open their own optical stores or work as responsible manager in optician establishments. Opticians can also work in companies that make and sell glasses. KPSS is also successful and they can work as a health technician in private institutions as well as in public institutions and organizations.

Opportunities for Progress in the Profession:

Universities who successfully complete the Optician associate degree program in the vertical transfer exam (DGS) held by ÖSYM,

Ø  Physics Department

Ø  Physics engineering

Ø  They can continue to Optical and Acoustic Engineering departments.

In addition, undergraduate education can be completed in some departments of open education faculties.
