GENERAL INFORMATION

The goal:
   The main purpose of the pre-hospital emergency health services is to train qualifie health technicians who can work in cooperation with the team carrying safely to the hospital by ambulance following the first interventions made to patients and injured and who have reached the competence to solve the health problems of the individuals in the best way, who can provide basic and advanced life support to patients or injured, who can make appropriate emergency approach by recognizing all kinds of system trauma.

Earned Title:

  Students who have completed the program are given the title of "Health Technician" in accordance with 7 / d-2 and 43 / b articles of Law No. 2547 with the decision taken at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 15/04/2009.

 Duties of the Profession
:
  The duties of the emergency medical technician are defined as follows in the regulation on job and job descriptions of healthcare professionals worker and other professionals worker working in health services published in the official gazette no. 29007 dated may 22, 2014 by the Ministry of Health:

a) Intravenous and intraosseous intervention.
b) Basic airway applications, endotracheal intubation and oxygen application.
c) Appropriate transportation techniques.
d) Using basic life support protocols, semi-automatic and fully automatic external
defibrillators.
e) Stabilization in trauma, fractures, dislocations and sprains.
f) Preparing the patient for transplant
g) Wound closure and simple bleeding control
h) Emergency delivery.
ı) Monitoring and defibrillation
i) Using the communication network accurately and quickly in all stages of its duty
g) Keeps the ambulance ready for use in terms of technique, medical equipment and
materials, and can act as a driver in the ambulance when necessary.

Program Entry Requirements:
  The student is accepted by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) according to the results of the TYT score and the principles determined by the Higher Education Council.

Internship and Application Period:
  Students do summer internships for 30 days in emergency departments of hospitals with health, practice and research centers and 112 ambulance stations.

Program Graduates Work Areas:
  Our graduates are employed in public and private institutions serving in the health sector, universities, emergency services, land, air and sea ambulances. In addition, there are employment in areas where first and emergency aid services are needed (such as firefighters' search and rescue units and Red Crescent).

Employment Opportunities:
  Employment opportunities are quite wide due to its increasing importance and effectiveness. As in all the world, the developments in pre-hospital health services have increased in our country in recent years and the program graduates have increased their employment opportunities, (especially 112 Emergency Health Services).

Vertical Transfer Opportunity:
  Students who successfully complete the First Aid and Emergency Aid Program can make vertical transfer to universities undergraduate programs such as Emergency Assistance and Disaster Management and Nursing if they pass the Vertical Pass Exam (DGS).
