General information

Medical Laboratory Techniques Associate Degree Program aims to train qualified technical staff who have the knowledge and skills to perform all examinations using medical laboratory devices. Graduates of this program are equipped to work in clinical biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, molecular biology, genetics and forensic laboratories, universities or research institute laboratories.

Diploma and Title of Graduates

The duration of the program is 2 years. Those who successfully complete all of the professional practices and internships in the program are awarded the Associate Degree diploma and the title of "Medical Laboratory Technician".

Duties (task)

Medical Laboratory Devices are an indispensable part of healthcare organizations. Medical Laboratory Techniques provides great convenience to the physician and patient in the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of diseases. Graduates from this department will have the knowledge and equipment to prepare and maintain Medical Laboratory Devices, to use the devices in expert management, to carry out tests and examinations, and to assume the necessary responsibilities to keep the devices ready for the next application. At the same time, the medical laboratory techniques department will train technical staff that will reflect the innovations in medicine and reflect them on their applications.

Internship and Application Period

In case the first year students of our School of Medical Laboratory Techniques Program complete the second semester, they have to do 30 (thirty) days of compulsory internship on the dates (July-August) determined by the Internship Education Commission. They will perform their internships at the relevant departments of the Application and Research Hospitals, university hospitals and private hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, which has an Affiliate (Joint Use) Protocol with our university. Internship evaluation and applications will be carried out in accordance with the principles of the Health Services Vocational School Internship Directive.

Major Field of Study for Program Graduates

Students who graduate from Medical Laboratory Techniques Program; They can work in public and private status health centers such as hospitals, polyclinics, health centers, private analysis laboratories, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, molecular biology and genetic diagnostic centers, or companies that produce or market medical laboratory equipment. Graduates from the program can also be appointed as Health Technicians according to the Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS)

Vertical Transfer Opportunity

If the students of the Medical Laboratory Techniques program are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) held by ÖSYM; They can undergraduate education by transferring to Nursing, Nursing and Health Services, Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioengineering departments.
