The medium of instruction in the Department of English Language and Literature is English. Students with low level of general English knowledge need to acquire a certain level of proficiency in English before beginning their four-year undergraduate education.  Our one-year preparatory programme aims to develop students' English language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar) through following the latest methodologies in language learning-teaching and by using original materials.  Students who fail the Preparatory Programme at the end of their academic year, can, for the second time, take the English Language Proficiency Exam which is held annually at the beginning of each academic year.
