NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy Laboratory

  • NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy is based on the principle that the nuclei of fermions and bosons resonate with a photon of the appropriate radio frequency when under the influence of an external magnetic field. With the NMR technique, it is possible to elucidate structural features such as the bonding patterns of atoms in a compound and the nature of chemical bonds. Samples for analysis are prepared using deuterated solvents. In our laboratory, carbon, proton and 2D NMR spectra (APT, COSY, HMQC, HMBC, NOESY) as well as 19F-NMR spectra can be obtained in 13C and 1H nuclei.
